Fundaments' VMware services

VMware has not become the standard in enterprise and service provider environments without reason. The platform combines virtualization, network segmentation, and lifecycle management in a way that is difficult to match in consolidated environments.

The acquisition by Broadcom has not changed that. What has changed are the conditions under which VMware services may be offered. This raises questions about licensing, continuity, and what needs to be done for existing environments as we move toward spring 2027.

VMware Cloud Foundation 9

At the same time, VMware has introduced VCF 9 as a platform that goes beyond a simple upgrade. Compute, storage, networking, security, and lifecycle management are brought together in a single integrated stack. This makes Private Cloud as manageable and scalable as Public Cloud, while retaining full control over data, compliance, and costs. For environments where security, sovereignty, and manageability are critical, VCF 9 offers capabilities that alternatives currently do not match.

For those who want to see what this looks like in practice, Fundaments offers a live demo. Not a presentation, but the platform in action, with room for concrete questions.

VMware-routes

Not every organization is affected in the same way by the new partner structure. Shared environments require a Pinnacle partner. Dedicated environments are subject to new conditions that go beyond licensing alone. Hardware, leasing structures, and vendor relationships also play a role and cannot be separated from the choices that need to be made.

Some workloads will move away from VMware in the coming years. Others simply cannot. Business-critical applications, compliance requirements, and deep integrations make a rapid transition unrealistic for many environments.

The right path depends on the current situation. In some cases, it means a phased transition to VCF 9. In others, it involves lifecycle and compliance management of an existing environment. And sometimes, the priority is ensuring continuity while allowing time to make a well-considered decision. The VMware paths page outlines the available options and what they mean in practice.

Fundaments

Fundaments has been working with VMware infrastructure for more than 25 years and holds the highest partner status within the Broadcom ecosystem. This provides direct lines to Broadcom and insight into how the new program works in practice.

From Dutch data centers and with a dedicated team of specialized engineers, Fundaments collaborates on architecture, lifecycle, and continuity. The conversation starts with the current environment—only then does the solution follow.
