Press release: Fundaments wins European tender for the Municipality of Eindhoven

The assignment

With the agreement for the current server storage environment nearing its end, the Municipality of Eindhoven quickly faced the question: do we invest in a product again, or do we opt for infrastructure as a service? Marcel de Vries, IT Project Manager at the Municipality of Eindhoven, explains: “Our architects drafted a comprehensive memo on the benefits of the Cloud, and we decided to put the requirement out to the market.” In early 2023, the Municipality of Eindhoven began seeking a new agreement for the delivery of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Backup as a Service (BaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS), and related services. In short, a secure IT environment including the virtualization layer for associated storage and backup solutions, housed within the Municipality of Eindhoven’s data center locations. Furthermore, they were looking for a flexible and agile IT infrastructure to respond to the constantly changing market needs—all while maintaining control over data and keeping the crucial need for time-to-market in mind.

The Fundaments solution

Fundaments took on this assignment. Ron Boscu, Manager of Sales & Marketing at Fundaments, states: “With our Private Cloud proposition, we were able to convince the Municipality of Eindhoven that we could provide a flexible, solid, secure, and future-proof IT infrastructure that better meets their needs. We officially signed the contract in Eindhoven on February 7, 2024. We are incredibly happy and proud to have earned their trust to keep the Municipality of Eindhoven’s data secure and accessible with our sovereign Private Cloud.”

The Municipality of Eindhoven is also pleased with the Fundaments solution. Marcel de Vries adds: “There were many companies offering a Private Cloud, but not in a Dutch data center, which was a requirement for us. Fortunately, such a sovereign Cloud was a given for Fundaments. From our very first meeting, they demonstrated knowledge, transparency, and drive. They have continued that approach; for instance, they didn’t outsource the installation of our hardware in the data center, but handled it themselves. The flexibility of IaaS is also great: Fundaments can scale up whenever we need more hardware. But most importantly, our environment is not shared with other customers. We have a dedicated platform, meaning our hardware is ours alone. The partnership with Fundaments is exactly what we need at the Municipality of Eindhoven,” concludes Marcel.
