Critical systems in reliable hands: Extendas has chosen Fundaments for 10 years
Paying at an unmanned gas station. A car wash you can use late into the evening. Or a customer starting a transaction via their mobility card. There is a good chance all three situations were made possible by Extendas. This Enschede-based company has been developing solutions for gas stations and car washes in the Netherlands and Belgium for 25 years. Their three main products: back-office (ERP), POS systems, and mobility platforms. "Together, they often form the beating heart of our customers' operations," says Tim Bethlehem, CEO of Extendas. "That requires an infrastructure that is as reliable as our software."
The move to the cloud
Extendas originally started with ERP systems that ran on-premises. About ten years ago, the development of cloud products began, including a POS system and customer portals. Tim: "We quickly came to the conclusion that we needed a hosting partner that could offer continuity, security, and scalability. Since then, Fundaments has been hosting and monitoring our systems 24/7. That gives us a lot of peace of mind. But our customers benefit from it too—through easier access, reliability, and high availability (uptime)."
Quick to act, short lines of communication
Although almost all communication is digital, Extendas appreciates that Fundaments is also physically nearby. "It’s not a must, but it helps. Because if necessary, you can quickly sit down at the table together. That is truly impossible with a Google or Amazon."
What is valued most, however, is the personal contact. "Our technicians can switch gears immediately, just by phone. And if I want to coordinate something commercial, I can turn to Dennis, our account manager. Sometimes we just want to spar, for example about sustainability. Then it’s nice that Dennis thinks along with us from our perspective, without it immediately becoming a sales pitch."
Adapting and setting boundaries
The partnership with Fundaments also proves its value during critical moments. Tim: "They proactively think along with us about how our software can continue to meet the highest security requirements. In addition, they stay close to their core and therefore don't sell things they don't 100% stand behind. I like that." Sustainability also plays a role. "Our sector is traditionally quite polluting and is trying to become greener. Fundaments pays attention to heat management and invests in sustainable energy. I don't just find that personally important; it is also a nice aspect of our service to pass on to our customers from a commercial point of view."
In short: personal contact, stable service, and honest communication. This makes Fundaments a partner we can build on."

IT environments are becoming increasingly complex. Applications run on diverse platforms, dependencies are growing, and continuity requirements are stricter than ever. At the same time, finding and retaining qualified IT professionals is becoming more difficult. For many organizations, this means that the daily management of servers, storage, networks, and middleware has become a heavy burden.
